Our Commitment to Privacy
LexaVox is designed with privacy at its core. We follow an offline-first approach: all core features work entirely on your device without sending data anywhere. Cloud features are optional and opt-in — they require your explicit consent before any data leaves your device.
What Stays on Your Device (Default)
The following features process data entirely on your device and never send data to any server:
- Offline OCR: Document scanning and text recognition (ML Kit)
- Offline Text-to-Speech: Reading text aloud using system voices
- Offline Translation: Translating text using downloaded language packs (ML Kit)
- Offline Speech-to-Text: Converting speech to text on-device
- Document Import: Opening EPUB, PDF, DOCX, TXT, and other files
- History & Bookmarks: All stored locally on your device
Optional Cloud Features (Opt-In)
When you choose to use cloud features, data is temporarily uploaded to our servers or Google Cloud for processing. You must explicitly enable cloud features and consent before any data is sent. The following cloud features are available:
- Cloud OCR: Images are sent to Google Cloud Vision for higher-accuracy text recognition, then immediately deleted
- Cloud TTS: Text is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech for neural voice playback, then immediately deleted
- Cloud Translation: Text is sent to Google Translate API for translation, then immediately deleted
- Cloud Speech-to-Text: Audio is sent to Google Cloud Speech for enhanced transcription, then immediately deleted
- AI Features: Text is sent to Google Gemini for summarization, rewriting, or extraction, then immediately deleted
No data is permanently stored on our servers. All cloud processing is done in-memory and data is deleted immediately after the response is returned.
Data We Collect
- Analytics: We collect minimal, anonymized usage statistics (feature usage counts, crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics) to improve the app. No personal content is ever included. You can opt out in Settings.
- Authentication: If you sign in for cloud features, we store only the minimum information required (email, account ID).
- Tip Feedback: If you rate tips in the app, we record your vote (tied to your account) and show only aggregated totals.
Data We Don't Collect
- Your documents, photos, or scanned text
- Your voice recordings or transcriptions
- Your location data
- Your contacts or personal information
- Your browsing history or app usage outside LexaVox
Third-Party Services
LexaVox integrates with the following services only when you choose to enable them:
- Google Cloud APIs: For optional cloud OCR, TTS, translation, STT, and AI features (data is processed in-memory and immediately deleted)
- Google AdMob: For displaying ads in the free version. AdMob may collect device identifiers for ad personalization. Upgrade to Premium to remove all ads.
- RevenueCat: For managing Premium subscriptions and in-app purchases
- Firebase: For app analytics and crash reporting (anonymized)
- Cloud Storage (coming soon): Optional backup to Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox — only files you explicitly select are uploaded to your personal cloud account
Advertising
The free version of LexaVox displays ads through Google AdMob. LexaVox itself does not share any of your personal content with advertisers. You can upgrade to Premium to remove all ads.
Children's Privacy
LexaVox includes age verification and is rated for ages 13 and up (COPPA compliant). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Data Security
All data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's security features. Cloud data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and processed in-memory without permanent storage.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time
- Delete: You can delete your data from the app settings or by uninstalling the app
- Export: You can export your documents to PDF, Markdown, TXT, or JSON at any time
- Opt-Out: You can disable analytics and cloud features in the app settings

How Account Authentication Works
LexaVox uses anonymous Firebase authentication. This means:
- You do not create a username or password account
- The app generates a unique anonymous identifier (UID) tied to your device
- This allows cloud features and app sync to work without account creation friction
- You can use the app fully offline without any authentication
How to Delete Your Account and Data
Option 1: Uninstall the App (Immediate)
Uninstalling LexaVox immediately removes all locally stored data from your device:
- All documents, scans, history, and bookmarks are deleted
- All offline language packs are removed
- All app settings and preferences are cleared
- No data remains on your device
Option 2: Request Cloud Data Deletion (GDPR/CCPA)
If you used cloud features (cloud OCR, translation, TTS, or AI), contact us to delete your Firebase profile and associated cloud processing records:

Please include:
- Your email address or any contact information you used
- A statement that you are requesting deletion of your anonymous Firebase account and any associated cloud processing records
- Optionally, the date range you used the app
We will:
- Verify your identity if necessary
- Delete your anonymous Firebase UID from our backend
- Remove all associated cloud processing logs and temporary data
- Confirm deletion within 30 days
What Gets Deleted
- Your anonymous Firebase UID and all related backend records
- Cloud processing history and logs
- Referral program data (codes, claims, trial grants) if applicable
- Any analytics records tied to your device
What Does NOT Get Deleted (Cannot Be Deleted)
- Locally stored documents on your device (can only be deleted by uninstalling the app)
- Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (cannot be tied to individuals)
- Published content you shared publicly (if any)
Important Notes
- Deletion is permanent: Once deleted, we cannot recover your data
- Cloud processing is transient: Cloud features do not permanently store your content—data is processed in-memory and deleted immediately
- No payment account: LexaVox uses RevenueCat for subscriptions, not a personal account. Subscription cancellation is handled through your device's app store (Apple or Google)
- Verification may be required: To prevent abuse, we may require proof of device ownership or email verification before processing deletion requests
Regional Rights
- EU (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data
- California (CCPA): You have the right to know, delete, and opt-out of sale of personal information
- Other Jurisdictions: We honor similar data privacy rights in your region
